adidas Launches the First Ever Knitted Football Boot

Knitted shoes are becoming a standard sight on running routes these days. You can soon add football fields too, as adidas has launched the world’s first knitted football boot. The adidas Samba Primeknit combines the comfort and responsiveness of playing barefoot with the support and protection needed to play football at the highest levels.

The shoes  feature an upper that is knitted from heel-to-toe, with the material still retaining the strength of a conventional boot. This knitted upper provides maximum flexibility and comfort on the top. The yarn used also receives a high precision coating that guarantees water resistance on the pitch.

adidas has also mentioned that the one-layer upper was constructed with “zones” (similar to the Predator Lethal Zones?), which will provide the ball control needed.

An added bonus – the one-piece upper is constructed without any wastage of material. This makes the Samba Primeknit adidas’ most sustainable football boot and the start of a revolution in football footwear.

The adidas Samba Primeknit is available from March 17th for purchase in selected adidas retail outlets, associated stockists and via www.adidas.com/football.

It’s a similar strategy to the way adidas Originals partnered up with Topshop for a limited edition collaboration for women.

adidas Inks Long-Term Partnership with Streetwear Pioneer NIGO

adidas Originals has just announced a long-term partnership with the pioneer of streetwear, NIGO. The collaboration will launch globally in FW 2014.

adidas Originals adds to its already stellar line-up of top designers and influencers. NIGO, a Japanese DJ, record producer and creative director for one of Uniqlo’s brands, is also the creator of A Bathing Ape (or Bape) which is a popular urban clothing line. He’s extremely popular, especially in his home country where he even has his own show on MTV called Nigoldeneye.

Too bad no sneak peeks of the apparel or shoes were released yet. Can’t wait to see what this tie-up comes out with later this year!

First of all, I am sorry for my absence these past weeks. I have a bunch of posts half written but I haven’t manage to finish and post them yet. This is just one of them…

According to HB, the iconic 1973 Stan Smith (named after the tennis player) by ADIDAS made a big come back early this month – like officially, in stores, after a while gracing the internet on the feet of the street style starts (as you can see in the gallery at the end of this post).

And now, am I so easily influenced that I want a pair? Yes, I am. Why? Because it’s been awhile since we parted. The good thing about classics is that they are timeless, therefore always in style.

I am a big fan of comfort. As much as I find a pair…

adidas X Opening Ceremony in a League of Their Own

adidas continued its collaboration with Opening Ceremony, releasing baseball-inspired apparel this time.

It’s a different take on what adidas usually launches. We’ve all gotten used to big launches from adidas Football, Basketball, Running and Originals, so this one’s a refreshing look for the brand.

And doesn’t the image below remind you of the time you watched Madonna in “A League of Their Own”? The looks is timeless.

Damian Lillard’s Busy All-Star Weekend Featured on The Inside Stuff

As basketball fans know, Damian Lillard, one of the fast rising endorsers of adidas, recently set a record for participating in the most number of NBA All-Star Weekend activities.

“The Inside Stuff” gave us a behind-the-scenes look at Lillard’s busy weekend. This is the online version:

http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2014/02/22/20140222-inside-stuff-lillard-mix.nba

In it, you’ll see Lillard showing off the three D Rose 4.5 colorways he sported for the Skills Challenge, Three Point Shootout and Slam Dunk Contest. There are also some cool bits where Dwight Howard gives him some advice, P. Diddy tries to steal his trophy and Blazers legend Clyde “The Glyde” Drexler greets him.

All in all, we see how busy players still are at the All Star Games. In this last one, none were busier than Damian Lillard.

Adidas Skateboarding Busenitz ‘Copa Mundial’

Skateboaring x Football? That’s what happened when adidas brought together two of its popular shoe silhouettes, the Busenitz (Skateboarding) and the Copa Mundial (Football). It’s a classic look that can go either way.

The Style Raconteur

adidas-skateboarding-busenitz-copa-mundial-02-570x380 In anticipation for the World Cup later this year,  adidas  continues to put a focus on football (the European kind), even if it means putting a focus on skateboarding along the way. The most recent example is the excellent new Busenitz “Copa Mundial”, which takes Dennis Busenitz‘s signature model, (which admittedly was already influenced by the Copa Mundial boot), and putting even more emphasis on the beautiful game, with a black leather upper that wouldn’t look out of place on the pitch. White accents and a white rubber outsole round out the package, which is available now at select retailers
